Laten we de wereld samen beter maken
Why ‘Give back Friday’?
I think it was about 8 years ago that the Black Friday phenomenon blew over from America to the Netherlands. Back then, we thought, 'Hey, that's fun, let's try it!', and it was a success. Just before Santa Claus started distributing his gifts, you had the chance to shop with a discount at many great companies. Who wouldn't want that?
A few years later, Black Friday suddenly looked very different. In every newspaper, on all social media, and in every newsletter, you were bombarded with promotions. Especially the big companies made it a sport to start their promotions as early as possible and used every possible means to persuade consumers to make a purchase from them.
Soon, it no longer felt right for us to participate in Black Friday. This overconsumption does not align with Label Kiki's philosophy. Furthermore, we realize that there are also many people who are having a very hard time and perhaps do not have the opportunity to buy anything, for whatever reason. This thought kept haunting us, and that's how 'Give Back Friday' was born.
With 'Give Back Friday', we want to give something back to this world, and we also want to make our customers aware of this and actively involve them. At Label Kiki, we believe it's important to give something back to society TOGETHER. Every year, we choose a charity together with our customers for which we will save money. Together, we donate 10% of our total 'Give Back Friday' revenue to this charity. To thank all our customers, they also receive a 10% discount for themselves.
10% discount for you and 10% goes to a good cause – that's a good feeling after shopping!
Because it's simple: you can only truly be happy with your purchase if you know that at the same time, you're giving something beautiful back to the world. Will you also choose a purchase with impact this year? Let's make the world a little more beautiful together this Give Back Friday!
This year, with our 'Give Back Friday' campaign, we will support the Steenkers Anemoon foundation. This wonderful charity provides parents whose child passes away just before, during, or shortly after birth with a package of love containing items to create memories, and also offers practical help via its website regarding administrative matters that unexpectedly arise with the event.
Kisses from Kiki
A few years ago, I was out for a walk and suddenly saw a sick girl lying in a bed by the window. This was Kiki, and Kiki had cancer.
I had met Kiki a few years earlier when I was coaching her volleyball team. We clicked immediately, because, well, Kiki & Kiki is a good combination. After that, Kiki became seriously ill, and this brave young girl participated in the TV program 'Over mijn Lijk' (Over my Dead Body). Ultimately, no further treatment was possible for Kiki, and she was told she had only a short time left to live. In the last months of her life, she designed and sold her own T-shirt to raise money for the Princess Maxima Center.
After Kiki's passing, her parents and sister continued Kiki's vision with the 'Kus van Kiki' (Kiki's Kiss) foundation. That's where I (re)encountered this brave family. Meanwhile, they were selling brooches with the 'Kus van Kiki' logo, and we also sold them for them. And successfully so; within a few days, the brooch was sold out. I immediately thought, we can achieve more good with this.
Some time later, I contacted Kiki's parents and suggested designing a bracelet with Kiki's logo. The proceeds would, of course, go entirely to charity. Kiki's parents were immediately enthusiastic but also had some questions: How are we going to do this? Where? How many?
Ultimately, I took on the production, and we made 250 bracelets. Kiki's parents were shocked by these numbers, but we went ahead with the plan anyway. Fortunately, it was a great success, as they were all gone within one week!
After that, we had the bracelets produced again, and the second time they also sold out very quickly. In the end, due to the large quantity, it was a bit more work than we initially thought. Fortunately, Kiki's parents had put together a whole team to pack all these bracelets so we could send them all over the Netherlands. Because of Kiki's TV debut, she had received a lot of media attention, and her foundation gained a large following throughout the country.
In the end, we raised €10,034.99 and donated it to 'Kus van Kiki'. And I must say, this is still the most beautiful project we've done with our Label Kiki team. We didn't earn a cent from it, but it brought so much more, and it was more than worth it.
Love, Kiki
Donate to Morocco… 💗
In 2023, we had a collection shoot in Marrakech. While we were sharing the beautiful images from this shoot, Morocco was hit by an earthquake. This felt very conflicting for us, so we decided to give something back. For one week, we donated 15% of the proceeds from all orders that week to the Red Cross!
